Everyone wants to be a part of something but no one wants to be sold.

How do you interest someone else in your product or service without them feeling sold to? Storytelling.

So let’s talk about mastering the art of storytelling.

Pay Attention To your Opening

You need to grab your prospect’s attention as there are a million other things drawing them in. By grabbing their attention, I am not talking about your volume of talk, but rather the words that you choose to say.

The language you use (words) will get their attention and bring them into the rest of the story. Stories that are real, relevant and rich in content and emotion are the ones that keep another person’s attention.

The prospect can feel your genuineness, your passion and can certainly tell if the story is yours or not. How? Are you reliving it for them with all the sights, sounds, smells and emotions that took place in the original story? Make them feel like they are right there with you.

Keep Them Engaged

When you think of your favorite TV shows, movies or books, they all have a great plot twist and hook. Your story should too.  When something unexpected happens, that keeps your attention, this plot twist should be a key in creating your key story.

This is the part that brings your business, your struggle or your experience to light.

Share Your Successes and Failures

When you share your failures as-well as your successes, people relate. You want them to see how you handled both success and adversity. What choices you made. You become relatable to your audience

Create Obstacles

Share how you tried to succeed in your story but challenges came up for you. Remember it is all about being relatable. People will relate to your failures and obstacles more than they’ll relate to your success. Know this though, they want the success too.

Failure and obstacles plant the seed that if you can do this, they I can too or together, we could be unstoppable.

What’s In It For Them

Do not tell the prospect everything about your story. Storytelling: share a memoir, not your biography. This is not the time to include every drop of detail about your life. Unless, you don’t want to get a new client or keep an audience. Remember to always tell them how your experiences can help you help them.

Did this blog help you? If so, it would mean a lot to me if you would share it with others!!! And, share your comments below!

Much Success!

Have an outstanding day!!
