As a coach I am often asked, “How do I overcome fear?”

This is a really good question.

What I have found when working with team members in my network marketing experience, is that finding what motivates you is what is going to be what gives you your wins. Let me see if I can explain that further by using this story taken from this site.

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.

“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

The moral to this story is to watch what you are feeding. This can apply to fear of any kind.

Are you feeding the fear or feeding the success?

Overcoming Fear Exercise

What I recommend clients and/or network marketers do is:

  1. list out the potential things that could happen if they did whatever it is they are fearful of.
  2. include all the good things and the things that feel negative.

The reality is, most of the things we worry about never happen and most of the things we want to happen, when we put forth the necessary effort to achieve it, do happen and sometimes, they are even better.

Most of the time, when people do what is required for success, they wish they wouldn’t have waited so long to get in motion. Bury your fear and get into action.
