No matter how long you have been in the direct sales, network marketing|MLM industry, let’s all take a second to remember what it was like when you first came in.

What you want most is success!

You were trying to:

  1. Figure out who all everyone is – upline, cross line, corporate staff, etc.
  2. You mentally start making a list and are encouraged to put it on paper, most likely.
  3. You are overwhelmed with what to share when.
  4. You are excited and might be sharing too much (but your energy and excitement is off-the-chart amazing).
  5. You want to be as effective as possible in your prospecting.
  6. You might share without keeping track of who you are talking to.
  7. You might not be prepared for the first no’s you will get and how they’ll make you feel, succeed or fail.
  8. Learn where to get the most bang for your buck as far as getting up to speed quickly.
  9. Figure out what you know and don’t know.
  10. Decide whether to share before or after you get your own products.

All of these are valid. The first thing you must do in running a successful home-based business is breathe. You must decide it is going to work! Your intention must be set before moving into many of these things that could shut you down quick if you aren’t prepared.

Would you like to know the number one thing people want? They want you to be authentic. If you are genuine, real and tell them you just started and don’t know everything, they’ll relax and just listen to what you have.

When you are asking people to look at your product, service or business ask them for a time that works best for them initially. If they don’t want to do that, you give them a few options that work for you and make the best one work.

Call your upline once you have an appointment set and ask them what you should say or better yet, ask them to help you. They would LOVE to, I am sure.

Make a plan of action with your mentors so you can get your customer base and your team built as quickly as possible. This in turn, will start the residual and upfront money coming to your mailbox.

So what about those of you reading this that didn’t just start? Everyday can be your NEW first day. It is about making a decision and doing the work required behind that decision to be successful.
