THERE IS A BUG GOING AROUND!
You’ve probably heard the saying ‘kindness is contagious.’ But is it really?
The word contagious often has a negative association because we use it when describing a virus or bacteria that is easily spread and makes us sick. If someone we know is contagious with something, we avoid close interaction with them and take measures such as washing our hands more frequently and sanitizing the area around us to avoid catching what they have.
We often say kindness is contagious because when we see someone else performing an act of kindness, we feel the need to do the same. We’ve caught the ‘bug,’ so to speak. Science has even proven that the feeling we get when this happens is called moral elevation, and it creates a natural high that makes us act kinder towards others. So kindness is contagious. The problem is that others can’t catch the bug until they’ve been ‘touched’ by someone who has the bug.
In order to spread kindness, we need to be willing to act first. We have to be the ones willing to reach others so that the bug spreads and everyone is affected. The best kind of kindness is not passive but active: actively choosing to spread kindness.
As you actively choose to be the first to impact others with kindness, you will start a season of kindness where everyone will desire to catch the bug.
We invite you to choose to touch others with kindness. Be the first to catch the bug and pass it around. It’s very simple: Just do one small of act of kindness each day. We can even help you with our great selection of cards and gifts that will help you spread the kindness bug near and far!
Have an outstanding day!
