face to face

There are so many many people to reach out to nowadays, family, friends, Facebook friends, twitter followers, blog commenters, cell phone contacts, business clients, co-workers…. AND there are as many ways to not actually talk to them!

Instant Message. Facebook. Twitter. Snapchat. Email. Texting…. the list goes on.

I recently learned that calling someone on the phone and hearing their voice activates that same places in their brain as if you were actually in person with them. Really?! That’s so neat!

And that virtual contact like texting activates nothing, almost the same as if you weren’t talking to them at all. Whoa!

What does that tell us…. call them! call them! call them! If it is important, call them. If you want them to feel special, call them! If you want them to care about your message, call them.

What does this tell me….. OMG I’ve been terrible about this. I have stopped calling, because I love how email or text can be so “non-intrusive” and they can reply whenever they can, but that’s not a good excuse now knowing that it feels like I am not really there. Especially in serious situations.

Bonus Lesson:

Now a phone call does not activate with the same power as if you were touching them, hugging or holding their hand, so there is still a need to see people in person and let that relationship become a REALationship.

So make a call today, to ask when you can see them?

Have an outstanding day!
