As an entrepreneur it’s up to you to deal with each problem that arises. Problem solving then is a must-have skill. But sometimes we all just get stuck and can’t seem to find the solution.
When you are the one in charge, you have to keep all the details in your head – and that can limit your critical thinking ability. Learning to think outside the box or change how you process a decision or information can be a valuable tool when it comes to critical thinking and problem solving. Here are two simple strategies to try when a problem arises:
Try mentally pulling back. Business owners are obviously concerned with every detail of their business, but that can narrow focus. When a problem arises, step back. Consider what type of issue it is and think more abstractly about the problem. This will help you focus on the overall issue and may offer a solution you wouldn’t immediately see. A great way to facilitate this type of thinking is to perform a task that frees your mind to wander. Things like coloring, playing with building blocks or legos, taking a walk or exercising will give your body something to focus on and will leave your mind free to wander to a unique solution.
Ask for advice. No business owner can do everything on their own. That’s why you need to have a network of associates to talk to. As hard as you may try to find a solution, sometimes you just might need someone else to point it out for you. So find a mentor, colleague or friend who can offer you a fresh perspective. Listen to what they have to stay and frame it within the context of your situation.
It’s not often that a problem solves itself. Make the process just a little easier for yourself by learning to think differently when an issue arises. It will help you make better decisions that will benefit your business!
Much Success! Have an outstanding day!!
